THE LIGHT - PHOTO + FILM MARCH 26, 2024
1. That they can take charge with confidence. We are the pros! This might be your first wedding but we (in theory) have done a whole bunch. In the words of Ryan (the temp) "lead me... when I'm in the mood to be led."
2. Communication and openness during the initial process. Emails back & forwards, them being responsive to your vision for the day - this 100% can set the vibe for the dynamic on the day.
3. At the end of the day, everything else aside, are they someone you want to spend your wedding day with?
That's it!
Communication will be key during the lead up, on your wedding day and also after your wedding as you receive your dream galleries back. The effort taken to ensure you click with your photographer can help to take all of the stress out of these processes for you.
If you have done all of the above and you want to know more, set a meeting!
If they don't suggest it, you suggest one! Meeting in real life for a chat & some kind of beverage takes all the guesswork out of how your personalities work together.
This step is the easiest way to get a feel for your photographer - just like a quick chat with a friend!
Slide in those DMs or if they prefer send an enquiry. Ask questions, tell them a bit about your vibe & see what comes back at you.
Go on their socials, websites, read reviews!! It could even be that they have a business corporate feel & that is EXACTLY what you want. You might see that they have a bit of a party-ing side to them that you love. You might find it super easy to relate to them as people - all good stuff!! What attracts you to one photographer's experience might put someone else off entirely & that is good!!
Pricing, availability and style can be so prioritised in your vendor search (and rightly so!!).
But it can be easy to forget that your photographer / videographer spend your whole wedding day with you.
They guide, motivate, help and are there for you on such an important day, it only seems logical that you have complimentary personalities and perspectives of your day. Right?
So you'll want to find the right photographer/ videographer for YOU SPECIFICALLY.
But how?
